Spiritual life at King’s is crucial for a Christ-centered community. Having a Christ-centered community is what Kings is all about! At Kings the power of seeking a relationship with God is valued above every other thing.
The theme for this year’s chapel is “By Faith.” Elijah Treviño ‘26 is one of our executive spiritual life representatives this year and he is thrilled to see what God has in store for the spiritual life at King’s this year. This theme means a lot to Treviño because faith “is such a big part of [his] life, and [he] would not be alive if it wasn’t for living by faith in Jesus!” Treviño’s family has depended on living by faith in many situations. When Treviño’s family, “trusted in Him and stepped in faith in the way that He wanted, “it always ended up being way better than expected.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we live by faith not by sight.” Faith is the assurance of the things we cannot see, which is something that is crucial to Treviño’s family.
For high school chapel this school year, Treviño hopes that “the real presence of God would come down, change lives, break addictions, and empower all of these wonderful people to go and actually do the work that Jesus has asked of us.” He also challenges us to ask the question, “what does it matter what the people around you think about you when the Living God and King of Kings has loving thoughts for you that outnumber the stars?” There is power in developing a true relationship with God and drawing near to him. For when we draw near to him, he draws near to us. Treviño wants to emphasize the important of being in the Word. Treviño believes that “man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Treviño believes that there is power in starting your day off by reading scripture and how moments like that will change your life.
