Community Within Faith

Community is often something overlooked within the life of a Christian. Yes, you can possibly find community within a weekly Sunday church service, but is that really enough? Shouldn’t community be something that is sought out daily? Having community is important but having a community that is centered around praising and glorifying God is even more important.

In Matthew 18:20 it says, “For where two or three gather together as my followers (in my name), I am there among them.” Hebrews 10:24-25 also says, “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Through a Christ-centered community, we can build each other in the faith and give him glory together.

In fact, there may be more opportunities to be involved in a Christ-centered community than you think. Here at King’s, there are monthly worship nights run by Ellie Jurgens! Jurgens ‘25 says, “Without the people around me, who encourage me to stay in the Word and give me Godly advice, I would not be where I am today.”

Accountability also comes with community which can be uncommon to find if you don’t have a good community. Jurgens ‘25 says, “This is why corporate worship is so important, because no matter what time it is, or where we’re meeting, we’re there with a purpose. To lift each other up, pray for each other, and make a connection with one another. We should never take the opportunity to get to know our brothers and sisters in Christ for granted.”

It doesn’t just have to be at the worship nights here at King’s, but you can get connected with a local youth group and church and find a God-honoring community there. Community is so important and sometimes you don’t realize that you are lacking it until you have had it.
