Thanksgiving Favorites

It’s Thanksgiving season, full of tradition and meaningful memories. Every family has their own. way of celebrating and interpreting the values of gratitude and togetherness this annual event brings. As we drew nearer to the historic holiday, we asked the King’s community what they are, and what they mean to them.

Mr. Moraru, who teaches journalism class, says he looks forward to his sister’s seafood boil and sitting around the table with family. He loves the opportunity to see his family, and says he is especially thankful for his editors-in-chief. While into the feel-good theme of Thanksgiving, celebrations of Christmas during the fall bring Mr. M down. “It’s a sin,” he says about listening to Christmas music too early.

Joelle Walworth ’25 also appreciates the occasion to gather with extended family. Her favorite Thanksgiving flavors are scalloped potatoes and apple cider. She reflects on the memorable time spent with her favorite cousins during Thanksgiving celebrations and is grateful for the time dedicated to celebrating fall. “Fall gets a bad rap, but I like fall,” Walworth says.

Kinslee Flaherty ’29 says her favorite Thanksgiving food is cranberry sauce, which she puts on almost every part of her meal. She appreciates most her family because “they are always encouraging me to seek God.” For the Flaherty’s, Christmas decorations are for after Thanksgiving but listening to Christmas music beforehand is okay. She looks forward to the time to spend with family.

This year, the King’s community is more grateful than ever for Thanksgiving, and all the joy it will bring.
